How do I use the ELO Vagabond with Genshin Impact on mobile?Updated 13 minutes ago
Last Updated: June 4, 2026
The ELO Vagabond works with Genshin Impact on both Android and iOS. Controller support is not on by default — you'll need to enable it once in the game's settings. There's also one important first-time step on Android that trips up a lot of players. This guide walks you through everything.
Before You Start
There's one thing to know before connecting the Vagabond for the first time on Android:
⚠️ New players on Android must complete the opening tutorial using touchscreen controls first. The controller option doesn't appear in settings until after the tutorial and your first combat encounter are finished. This is how the game is designed — it's not a Vagabond issue.
iOS players can skip straight to the setup steps below — controller support has been available on iOS since launch and has no tutorial restriction.
Setup: Android
Step 1: Complete the opening tutorial on touchscreen
If you're a new player, watch the opening cutscene, meet Paimon, and finish the basic tutorial including the first combat encounter. Use touchscreen for all of this. Once done, the controller option will unlock in Settings.
Step 2: Connect the Vagabond
Plug the Vagabond into your phone's USB-C port. The game supports both wired and Bluetooth connections — wired is recommended for zero-latency combat, especially in demanding content like Spiral Abyss.
Step 3: Enable controller mode in Settings
- Tap the Paimon Menu icon in the top-left corner of the screen
- Tap the gear icon to open Settings
- Go to Controls
- Tap Control Type and select Controller from the dropdown
The game's button prompts will update to controller icons immediately.
💡 You'll need to repeat Step 3 each session on Android. When you boot up without a controller connected, the game reverts to touchscreen mode automatically. It takes about 10 seconds to switch back.
Setup: iOS
Step 1: Connect the Vagabond
Plug the Vagabond into your iPhone or iPad's USB-C port. The game detects it automatically with no pairing needed.
Step 2: Enable controller mode in Settings
- Tap the Paimon Menu icon in the top-left corner
- Tap the gear icon to open Settings
- Go to Controls
- Tap Control Type and select Controller
That's it — you're ready to play.
Adjust Your Controls
Once controller mode is active, you can fine-tune your settings inside Settings → Controls:
- Camera sensitivity — adjust horizontal and vertical turn speed separately
- Aim sensitivity — fine-tune aiming during ranged attacks
- Invert Y-axis — available if you prefer aircraft-style vertical controls
Use the ELO Unleashed App for deeper button remapping beyond what Genshin's native settings offer.
Known Limitations
- Touchscreen stops working while controller mode is active. This applies to both Android and iOS. To use touchscreen again, go back to Settings → Controls and switch Control Type back to Touchscreen.
- Android reverts to touchscreen on every boot. You'll need to re-enable Controller mode in settings each time you connect the Vagabond.
- New Android players must finish the tutorial on touchscreen first. Controller mode is locked until after the tutorial is complete.
Troubleshooting
Controller option not showing in Settings
- On Android, confirm you've completed the opening tutorial and first combat encounter on touchscreen
- Make sure your game is updated to at least Version 5.5 — this is when Android controller support was added
- Disconnect and reconnect the Vagabond, then recheck Settings → Controls
Vagabond not being detected
- Ensure the Vagabond is firmly connected to the USB-C port
- Restart Genshin Impact with the Vagabond already connected
- Confirm controller mode is set to Controller (not Touchscreen) in Settings → Controls
Controls feel off
- Go to Settings → Controls and adjust camera and aim sensitivity
- Reset controls to default and reconfigure from scratch if inputs feel inconsistent
