How do I use the ELO Vagabond with Fortnite on mobile?Updated 14 minutes ago

Last Updated: June 4, 2026

The ELO Vagabond works with Fortnite on Android via direct installation through the Epic Games App. Because Fortnite is no longer available through the Google Play Store or Apple App Store in most regions, how you install the game affects how your controller works. This guide covers both installation paths and what to expect with the Vagabond on each.

First: How You Installed Fortnite Matters

Fortnite on mobile has two ways to play, and controller support works differently for each:

MethodPlatformController Support
Native install via Epic Games AppAndroid✅ Full — Vagabond works directly
Cloud gaming (Xbox Cloud / GeForce NOW)Android & iOS✅ Full — Vagabond works via streaming
Apple App Store (US only)iOS✅ Full — Vagabond works directly

💡 iOS users outside the US will need to use cloud gaming (Xbox Cloud Gaming or GeForce NOW) to access Fortnite. The Vagabond works with both services.

Setup: Native Install on Android

If you installed Fortnite through the Epic Games App directly on your Android device, follow these steps.

Step 1: Connect the Vagabond

Plug the Vagabond into your phone's USB-C port before or after launching the game. Fortnite detects wired controllers automatically — no pairing required.

Step 2: Launch Fortnite

Open the game. Once the controller is recognized, the UI will switch to controller navigation mode automatically.

Step 3: Verify controller input in Settings

If the controller isn't being detected:

  1. Tap the Menu icon (three horizontal lines) from the lobby
  2. Go to SettingsInput
  3. Confirm controller input is active

Step 4: Customize your controls

Inside Settings, you can adjust:

  • Controller sensitivity for building and combat
  • Button layout to match your playstyle
  • Aim assist — enabled by default for controller players

Setup: Cloud Gaming (iOS and Android)

If you're playing Fortnite through Xbox Cloud Gaming or GeForce NOW, the Vagabond connects to your phone first and streams input to the game.

Step 1: Connect the Vagabond

Plug the Vagabond into your phone's USB-C port before launching the cloud gaming app.

Step 2: Open your cloud gaming service

  • Xbox Cloud Gaming: Go to xbox.com/play in your browser, or open the Xbox Game Pass app. Sign in with your Microsoft account and link your Epic Games account.
  • GeForce NOW: Open the GeForce NOW app, sign in, and launch Fortnite from your library.

Step 3: Launch Fortnite

The game will open in streaming mode. The Vagabond is recognized as a standard controller — no additional setup needed.

💡 For the smoothest cloud gaming experience, use a stable Wi-Fi connection. A strong signal reduces input lag noticeably.

What to Expect: Crossplay and Matchmaking

Fortnite mobile uses crossplay matchmaking — you'll be placed in lobbies with PC and console players. This cannot be turned off on mobile. Skill-based matchmaking is active, so lobbies are balanced around your performance level.

Known Limitations

  • HUD customization is touch-only. The in-game HUD editor only applies to touchscreen layouts. Controller button layouts are adjusted separately in Settings → Input.
  • iOS outside the US requires cloud gaming. Direct installation is not available in most regions.
  • Cloud gaming requires a stable internet connection. The Vagabond input itself is wired and lag-free — any latency comes from the stream, not the controller.

Troubleshooting

Controller not detected on Android

  • Ensure the Vagabond is firmly plugged in before or after launching Fortnite
  • Restart Fortnite with the Vagabond already connected
  • Check that your Epic Games App and Fortnite are fully up to date

Controller not working on cloud gaming

  • Disconnect and reconnect the Vagabond
  • Refresh the browser tab or restart the cloud gaming app
  • Make sure the Vagabond is connected to your phone, not a separate device

Inputs feel off or delayed

  • On cloud gaming, switch to a stronger Wi-Fi connection
  • On native Android, check Settings → Input and reset controller settings to default
