How do I connect the ELO Vagabond to Rainbow Six Mobile?Updated 11 minutes ago
Last Updated: May 22, 2026
Rainbow Six Mobile requires a one-time setup before your Vagabond will be recognized. Because the game launched in beta, controller detection works differently than most mobile titles. Follow the steps below carefully and you'll have full controller support by the end.
First-Time Setup
Step 1: Complete the tutorial using touchscreen only
After launching the game for the first time, you'll need to complete a three-stage gameplay tutorial. Do not connect your Vagabond yet. The tutorial is designed to be played with touchscreen controls only.
Step 2: Complete the first practice match using touchscreen only
After the tutorial, the game will prompt you to play a practice match. This also does not support controllers at this stage. Complete it using touchscreen controls.
Step 3: Purchase your operators and reach the home screen
Once the practice match is done, the game will reward you with 1600 coins and prompt you to purchase two operators. After that, you'll arrive at the main home screen.
Step 4: Dismiss the first match prompt
The game will prompt you to start your first multiplayer match. Do not tap it yet. Instead, tap the center of the screen to dismiss the highlighted prompt overlay.
Step 5: Download the background update over Wi-Fi
You should now see a background update available. Enable Wi-Fi if needed and let the update finish downloading. You can track its progress in the top-right corner of the screen.
Step 6: Connect the Vagabond
While keeping the game open in the background, go back to your phone's home screen and connect the Vagabond controller.
Step 7: Re-open the game and confirm the connection
Re-open Rainbow Six Mobile. You should see a popup confirming that the controller has been connected successfully.
Step 8: Start your first match
Once the connection popup appears, you're good to go. Start your first match — from this point on, the game will have full controller support.
💡 For all future sessions, simply connect the Vagabond before opening the game. It will sync automatically.
If Controller Support Isn't Working
If you already have the game installed and your controller isn't being detected, a fresh reinstall usually resolves it:
- Save your progress to your account or cloud save
- Sign out of the game
- Uninstall the game completely
- Reinstall from the Play Store or App Store
- Sign back into your account
- Repeat the first-time setup process above
Known Limitations
In-game menu navigation using the controller is currently limited. This is a Rainbow Six Mobile game-level restriction, not a Vagabond issue. We expect Ubisoft to improve this in future updates.
The Vagabond operates as an XInput-style Xbox controller and also supports PS Remote Play compatibility.
